The Things You Should Have For Your Car Audio System

Are you having trouble finding out what you need for your car audio system? Maybe you should take a look here first. Car audio accessories can relate to a number of things including:

  • Ipod and portable MPR music player accessories
  • Remote controls
  • Antennas
  • Speakers
  • Amplifiers
  • Subwoofers

Ipod and portable MPR music player accessories

These accessories will let you use an ipod in your car simply by plugging your Ipod into your car CD player head unit. Some modern CD players now come with inbuilt Ipod support and can even access ITunes as well.

Remote controls

You can get wireless remote controls for many types of cd players. These are inexpensive - around $10 to $20. The wireless remote lets you operate your car stereo from a distance inside the car. Although many CD players come with a remote, it's good to have a back up for a spare as they are quite small and can be easy to misplace.

Speakers

Car speakers can in a vast array of types, sizes, styles and output ratings. Yes it is true that the better brand and more expensive speakers will generally give better sound, however most people will be happy with a good mid range speaker rather than buying from top of the range.
The most popular front speaker size for a car is 6"x9" - these are the round speakers that fit in the front doors. Alpine, Blaupunkt, Pioneer, Kenwood and Sony all make good quality 6"x9" speakers.

Subwoofers

A subwoofer in your car will allow you to hear bass more so than if you simply had speakers in the car. Subwoofers give your car that well known thumping sound that you may hear from miles away (when it's played too loudly!). IN reality, most people want a subwoofer not to be heard in the next suburb, but just for that extra bass which can really do wonders for your music.
You can choose from component subwoofers which is just the speaker on its own, or you can buy pre made enclosed subwoofer boxes which can come with one or two subwoofers in them and can be placed in the trunk or your car. Subwoofers should be carefully matched to some quality speakers and a good amplifier.

Amplifiers

Once your have your speakers and subwoofer chosen, its time to get an amplifier. The majority of people will require a simple amplifier, whilst real audio enthusiasts will need to also look into crossovers, equalizer and even using multiple amps. Amplifiers will do just that - amplify the sound allowing you to reach greater volumes and clarity. They also give better control over individual speaker output, especially when combined with a high quality head unit. Alpine, Kenwood, JBL and Clarion all make excellent amplifiers in the mid-high quality range. Amps can cost anywhere from $100 right up to $2000 or more.
